The Vienna Forest surrounds the capital of Austria on the western side of the city and is recognized for the green lungs of the city.
This is the region where an innovative and ecological single-family house designed by ONA Architecture is located. It was built using CLT technology, which perfectly meets the standards of energy-saving systems. This technique is based on the use of large-format, massive solid wood panels (cross-laminated timber CLT) as load-bearing walls, partitions and ceilings. This allows you to erect structures with higher load-bearing capacity in a short time than traditional methods.
In addition to the interesting shape of the house and unique material combinations (steel-glass-wood), attention is drawn to the black fasade in an unusual version. Burnt boards of five different widths were used here, which allowed for an unusual 3D effect. The choice was made for the Silesia-2 variant: tanned, brushed and impregnated boards made of Siberian larch. The fire treatment technique, based on the Japanese tradition of Shou Sugi Ban, in addition to its extraordinary aesthetic values, also provides one of the best ways of preserving wood.
