Living close to nature particularly affects our mental health, providing solace and a calm mind. In our free time, we choose places where we can detach from the hustle and bustle of city life.
It’s no secret that the heart of every home is the living room, where we spend a significant amount of our time and entertain guests, aiming to provide them with a cozy atmosphere and maximum comfort, making them feel at home. To create a space for relaxation and at the same time make our living room look exceptional, we must focus on functionality, aesthetics, and decor, and consequently – the choice of finishing material. It is this material that gives the interior its individual character and original design.
What sets charred wood apart from other finishing materials is primarily its natural appearance, diverse texture, depth of color, and of course, its unique atmosphere, which investors and architects constantly strive for. Charred wall planks are an ideal solution and idea for authentic decor in modern BARN-type homes. Thanks to their original finish, extracted structure, and color scheme, they blend particularly well with rustic or Scandinavian climates, creating an original space and a unique atmosphere.
The composition presented in the photos is the result of finishing with charred planks on one of the walls of the Riders Lodge Apartments, designed by Razoo Architects. Used in the project using the Shou Sugi Ban method, the Karpatia and Baltica wall planks are among the products from the Polish manufacturer of charred boards, Wood of Fire.
Choosing the aforementioned finishing material is a skillful combination of simplicity and elegance, which can instantly transform the decor and give it the desired, original character. Charred wall planks using the traditional Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique not only provide a unique appearance but also, thanks to this processing method, gain excellent preservation and durability. Additionally, due to their humidity properties, they create a favorable microclimate for human health. Shou Sugi Ban wall planks are a proposition for those who value simplicity and functionality, but above all, life closer to nature, which is absolutely invaluable in today’s world.
